Assessment notices for the State-mandated Revaluation of all real estate for the October 1, 2018, Grand List have been mailed.
Instructions for Informal Appeal:
If you feel that the assessed value placed on your property as of October 1, 2018 does not reflect 70% of market value you may file an informal appeal. We ask that your request for appeal be presented in writing; however it will be heard at your choice of: in person, over the phone or in writing. There is no due date, however we ask that appeal applications be filed as soon as possible and no later than December 31, 2018.
When submitting your appeal please provide documentation to support your value claim-photographs, appraisal, comparable properties, broker price opinion, etc. If appealing a commercial property please provide appraisals/and or financial documents to substantiate the provided difference in valuation. It is useful if this information is provided in advance as we may be able to find a resolution without a meeting; but can be brought to the in-person appointment. At the meeting value will be discussed – taxes will not. You will receive your decision in the mail and not at your appointment.

The Town of Wethersfield Assessor's Office prides itself as an outreach administrative office not only for our taxpayers, but various area real estate professionals and prospective buyers and sellers. It is our duty to establish fair and equitable values for all property in the Town - real estate, motor vehicle and personal property - whether taxable or exempt. The assessment year begins on October 1st of each year and continues to September 30th of the following year.
The Mill Rate for the 2017 Grand List year is 40.78 .
