Flood Map Changes — February 26, 2010
On February 26, 2010, the town was advised by FEMA that due to a significant number of requests for individual map amendments, they have revisited and revised the mapping in a portion of town. Issued and effective on February 26, 2010, the revisions have reduced the limits of the 100 year floodplain for portions of Goff Brook (in the Grist Mill, Terrywood and Stockingmill Road areas) and Collier Brook (in the vicinity of Windmill Hill and Straddle Hill).
If you believe your property may be affected by these changes, the town recommends you review the revised FEMA maps with your insurer and mortgage holder, as the requirement for having and maintaining flood insurance on your property may have changed.
In the map index below, an asterisk indicates map panels where revisions have been made. Below the map index are listed corresponding additional maps which illustrate the changes. Staff in the Engineering Division office at Town Hall has paper copies of the map revisions and are available to discuss the changes with you. Please note that only your insurer or mortgage holder can determine your specific requirement for flood insurance coverage.
FEMA provides information online to assist homeowners with questions about or wishing to dispute flood hazard location assignments.
