☃️Snow People on Main☃️
The Town of Wethersfield is pleased to announce the launch of a new winter community art initiative, Snow People on Main, a creative program that brings together local schools, students, and the broader community.
As part of the program, four-foot-tall snow person cutouts were distributed to schools throughout Wethersfield. Students decorated the snow people during school art activities, showcasing their creativity, school pride, and unique perspectives. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce and First Church Pre-K assisted by designing snow people. The beautifully and uniquely designed snow people are now displayed along Main Street, creating a festive and welcoming winter streetscape for residents and visitors alike. An additional snow person is located at Wethersfield Town Hall.
Special thanks to Wethersfield Physical Services who assisted with the project; including weatherization of the snow people and the physical placement of the art.
Locations include:
Storefronts at 137 Main Street
Old Academy, 150 Main Street
Keeney Center, 200 Main Street
Lucky Lou’s, 222 Main Street
First Church, 250 Main Street
Heirloom Market, 263 Main Street
Town Hall, 505 Silas Deane Highway
Company One Volunteer Fire Company, 171 Main Street
Mayor Lesser highlights the fact that two young people in the community, Brandon and Ryan Hill brought this idea to him after each writing letters to the Mayor and then presenting a PowerPoint presentation to Town officials. The young men are Wethersfield residents and attend the Wethersfield school system.
The display will be an outdoor gallery of student-created art, encouraging community members to stroll downtown, support local businesses, and celebrate the creativity of Wethersfield’s young artists. The program is designed to be inclusive, engaging students of various ages and fostering a sense of community pride.
