Calling All Volunteers
Fascinated by animals? Like gardening? Interested in instilling a love of nature in children?
Consider volunteering at the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center!
Adults and students ages 13+ serve important roles in special events and on-going assignments supporting the Nature Center's educational mission. Volunteers, community service participants and interns may contribute in a variety of ways.
Potential Volunteer Opportunities
Animal Care Assistant helps to feed, clean, and exercise animals.
- Team Captain (experienced volunteers) help coach younger volunteers and supervise the completion of tasks for a designated room or animal group.
- Birthday party assistant animal handler, typically work Saturdays and Sundays. Dates and times vary.
Garden Care Assistant helps weed and water garden.
- Community Garden Leader (experienced gardener) helps train and supervise assistants, organize planting day, and oversee harvesting.
Plant Care Assistant helps water and prune indoor plants 1-2 hours per week, flexible schedule.
Welcomes visitors, answers phone, etc. (ages 16+) portion or full shifts: Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Nature Summer Camp and Eco Summer Camp (ages 13+)
- Minimum 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. (arrive earlier and stay later with staff consent) for one or two weeks Monday-Friday.
Greets participants, sets up, arranges refreshments, etc., varies by event.

Upcoming Volunteer Orientations
Ages 13+. Seniors, adults, interns, and students may volunteer as greeter, gardener, animal caretaker, educator, special events assistant, etc. Orientation introduces seasonal programs and events, on-going and short-term volunteer opportunities, explains volunteer roles, responsibilities and expectations, and provides basic safety training.
At this time we do not have an upcoming volunteer orientations scheduled.

An EBW Nature Center Volunteer Manual can be picked up at the Nature Center or download the manual. The last 2 sheets of the volunteer manual must be completed, signed and returned before a participant can start volunteering. Once all of the necessary paperwork has been processed, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in contact to set-up a schedule. Please note there is an additional volunteer contract specifically for animal care which is handed out during volunteer orientations.
